Joshua 1:1-9 - New International Version (NIV)
1 After the death of
Moses the servant of the Lord, the
Lord said to Joshua son of Nun,
Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you
and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am
about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give
you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your
territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the
Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No
one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with
Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be
strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I
swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very
courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not
turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever
you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;
meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything
written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have
I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be
discouraged, for the Lord your God
will be with you wherever you go.”

Mark 1:9-11 - New
International Version (NIV)
9 At that time Jesus came from
Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Just
as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the
Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 And
a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well
pleased.”

Acts 1:6-11 –
New International Version (NIV)
6 Then
they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore
the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He
said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set
by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when
the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in
all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
9 After
he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from
their sight.
10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when
suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men
of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same
Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way
you have seen him go into heaven.”

Revelation 3:14-22
– New International Version (NIV)
14 “To
the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and
true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know
your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or
the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot
nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You
say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do
not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I
counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich;
and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve
to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19 Those
whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here
I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the
door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To
the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne,
just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever
has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
